"Here we go from wanting to escape to actually doing it. This song is fantasy. It was inspired by an old friend of mine named Jeff Schwartz, who was very into the “symphonic rock” music of the early 1970s - things like The Moody Blues and Emerson Lake and Palmer were doing. It gives me the feeling of flying like and eagle. On one hand, this song is a tribute to the Colorado Mountains and the wildlife that still abounds here. On the other, it’s really a song about escaping physical reality through the creativity of one’s own mind. It’s the only one I’ve written in 'second person.' "

Take an Eagle

By Brad Fitch, Published 2000 by TropiCowboy Music BMI

Take an Eagle by the wing you can be most anything, go on leave the Earth below you're an eagle you know
And you will learn to fly, you will learn to soar, right across the sky, you're an eagle once more
And you'll fly across the sky, fly across the sea, tell the Earth goodbye, come back home to me

Build your thorny nest on the rocky ledge, leave the Earth below, you're an eagle you know
Fly on through the night, cross the empty sky, on your endless flight, you will never die
And you'll fly across the mountains, soar above the trees, glide around the fountains, an eagle now for me

Fly on through the night, fly across the sea, on your endless flight, an eagle now for me

Take an eagle by the wing, you can be most anything, leave the Earth below, you're an eagle you know
